we have our challenge
Being the democratic
little group we are, we held a vote this year to decide what our challenge
should be for 2010.
It was close all the
way through, and we had a great range of challenges including 4 mountain
climbing and 3 cycling challenges. In the end, it was a straight race
between the Coast to Coast cycle ride and the Lake District 24 Peaks. Both
are tough, and are going to take some serious work, but the winner for us is
the Coast to Coast or C2C.
Now the hard work
starts again ......... watch this space !
25 January
- Having only decided yesterday that we'd be doing the Coast 2 Coast Cycle
Ride, today we got our first bit of publicity, completely unexpectedly but
most welcome. BBC Radio Cambridgeshire were running some fund-raising
stories on Drive Time, and they wanted to talk to us about the 3 Peaks and
plans for this year.
Our
regular voice wasn't available, so it fell to the other Chris to pick up
the story - ha, ha, ha - yes we know he's quite athletic and does this
kind of thing all the time !! Listen to the interview by clicking on the
radio.
6 July
- Things have been pretty quiet but as we enter the last 10 days or so, the
final elements of planning start coming together. We have a final, final
team, and although we've had some people having to drop out for a variety of
reasons, the team of 16 seems just about right - 14 cyclists and 2 support
drivers.
The final, final team therefore are:
Chris Welsh |
Peter Reynolds |
Paul Blacktop |
Paul
Taylor
|
Phil Barnard |
Phil Stanbridge |
Carl Hillen |
Simon Crow |
Steve Ratcliff |
Alok Sharma |
Craig Abbs |
James Tully |
Robert Allsop |
Richard Baronowski |
Eddie Thompson |
Chris Clingham |
A big welcome to the guys in the green boxes - they're all new members to
the team.
We have just 10 days to go
before we set off on our next adventure - wish us luck !!
